Getting big!

Maylee is definitely at the stage where she is not a toddler, but not so much a baby!  She is growing so much everyday.  Here is what she has been up to-

9 month accomplishments:
- crawling all over the house, waving (especially to dad when he leaves in the morning for work), clapping, opening cabinets (She's good though, she leaves the kitchen ones alone.  Thank goodness!), dancing when she hears even the softest of music

10 month accomplishments:
- I call it a "courtesy" laugh (She mimics a laugh that Jeff does to her... it is pretty funny because she will do it while she is playing with toys or just sitting in the back of the car in her car seat!), pulling herself up onto her knees and sometimes onto her feet

She still loves to "talk", swing, go for rides in the jogging stroller, scream, "talk", roll her wrists and kick her legs, play with cousins, take baths, push buttons on the t.v. remote, read books,  oh- and "talk" some more!

Phoenix Suns Tournament

Jeff got invited to play in the Phoenix Suns Charity Tournament with work a few weeks ago.  Let me just say- my husband is a superstar!  They got 8th place (out of about 25 teams) and won a sweet, new Ping golf bag.  Because they were one of the top teams, they also got a pic with a few of the Suns players, such as Shaq and Barbosa! :)  So it ended up being a pretty good day- a day of golf on the beautiful Greyhawk course, free lunch and dinner, a new golf bag, a basketball with all  players' autographs, and getting a pic with a few of the Suns players!  Too bad they didn't win 1st place... they could have gotten season tickets to the Suns games!  Oh well, hopefully he will get to go next year!  He had a great time!

Little Daytrip

modern view of Lower Cliff Dwelling

This past Saturday we decided to get out and see some of good 'ol AZ!  We drove about 115 miles east of Phoenix to the Tonto National Monument.  It is tucked up in the "mountain" overlooking Roosevelt Lake.  Prime real estate!  The trail to get to the dwellings was about half a mile (which was nice since Jeff was the lucky one that got to carry Maylee).  Wildflowers were in full bloom and the weather was quite pleasant!

For the way home, we decided to take the scenic route.  It was a 40 mile "road" (1/2 of it was dirt) that followed the lake down into the different rivers and lakes, such as Apache Lake and Canyon Lake.  The drive was a bit windy and a little steep for me at times, but really cool.  I have never seen so much water in this desert!

As we were making our way home we came across a little stop called Tortilla Flats.  We helped ourselves to some ice cream cones as we walked around.  All the shops were completely covered in dollar bills inside!  It was crazy.  Not bad wallpaper! :)

Anyway, it was a fun trip and made for a good Saturday.  Plus, Maylee was perfect!

Easter Dress Photoshoot

Here are some pictures of our little lady in her Easter dress!  These pictures were rather difficult to take... she didn't want to sit and pose (I don't know why)!  Everytime I would try to position her to take the picture, she would start crawling away! :)  So here are the decent ones I managed to get!

The Hunt!

( I don't think she liked the ears too much, but doesn't she look so cute?!)
(with the stash of eggs)
(Notice Maylee almost always either had an egg in her mouth or her hand!)
On Easter, after we went to church, we headed over to my parents' house .  We had a great ham dinner. Then we were ready for the annual Easter egg hunt.  My parents snuck out and "hid" Easter eggs(although some were pretty obvious for the little kids to see) all over the backyard.  My mom found a way to get us adults, especially the men, to participate... she put restaurant and movie gift cards in the eggs!

Maylee didn't really look for eggs, but she sure enjoyed holding and sucking on them!  She got wrapped up in the excitement and had fun chillin' on the blanket with Halle.

Happy Easter!

I saw the idea for these Easter egg cake pops on Bakerella and decided to give them a try!  I first tried them with April, Kelsie, my mom, and the kiddos on our 'Thursday play date'.  The majority of the eggs didn't turn out too great.  The cake was too gooey and we didn't let them sit in the fridge long enough, so they slid down the lollipop sticks or just broke off while we were trying to dip them.  Sad! :(  (But hey, we were trying to make them in a short amount of time with 2 babies and 2 kids!)  But the cake pops looked too cute on her website to give up... so I tried them again!  I made sure to add less frosting to the cake and to let the cake pops firm up in the fridge a lot longer.  I was thrilled when they turned out!  They were a lot of fun to make and decorate, plus they were the perfect treat to go along with my lesson in Young Women's! :)
